Some call it vanity and I admit there is certainly a part of vanity in this (the tking of selfies).Of course I want to portray myself at my very best, at my most confident, at my most flawless.
But vanity is not the only reason to take and post pictures of myself. It is also a study to my body. I think one of the reasons we’re so hard on our own bodies is because we don’t spend much time looking at them. We glance in the mirror quickly before going out the door, we look at the clothes we wear, but not at the body itself. And when we do, we hate it. Because it reminds us of the flaws we choose to ignore by not looking at them.
I believe that the more you look at your body, the more you will get used to it’s flaws, the more you will not judge them, the more you just accept them as parts of your body.
So yes, I have a hairy back. Yes, I have a belly that overhangs. Yes I have stretch marks, birth marks and other marks. As hard as I try to ignore those things, I cannot deny having them. So I might as well do my best to not judge myself for it too much.

(okay, excuse the text, it’s just me jabbering about my body image)
